PSB Press Playlist — "Try Me!"
deep + house jams in this week's subscriber playlist
A woman came to the door to deliver a package to my neighbor. She had to take some photos, presumably to satisfy her disembodied employment bot. She took a photo of the building, then the package, then one of my neighbor holding the package in front of her face so that she would not appear in the frame.
The woman was wearing a brown t-shirt with a graphic print of torn fabric, so that it appeared the t-shirt was shredding apart at the center due to the power of her enormous cartoon breasts, which were depicted as wet, restrained by a blue bikini top.
Thus begins another week on the Pond overlooking idyllic Ridgewood, Queens, where surprise and intrigue lie around every corner.
Let’s Play Outside
It’s fully spring time, and the outdoor DJ soundsystems are ready for deployment.
Mansions, New York’s premiere carpeted wine bar and “fog room” opened last week with a line stretching down the block. Look to them for excellent DJ curation and a reliable stream of “special guests”, who are often likely a big room headliner visiting from out of town. Free before 10pm.
690 Ridgwood Garage, a community record store, has been throwing weekend vinyl nights. Free + BYO + good vibes.
Nikki Nair and Foodman will be at h0l0 Friday night, May 1st. Good ticket price on that one.
Bushwick OG Millennial pizza spot Robertas is kicking off a new season of their “natural wine party” BEVERAGES on May 2nd, 3-10pm.
Later that night, May 2nd. Earth Dog’s new rave series loop will kick off at a secret location, with live hardware techno from SPF50 in addition to a full line up. Earth Dog throws the best techno parties in the city, and although this one is sold out, they typically drop last minute tickets on RA if you sign up for notifications.
Karlala is bringing back the pink for a new season of Public Service, which hops through various parks in Brooklyn throughout the summer. The first jaunt is this weekend, May 3rd, at Herbert Von King Park in Bed Stuy, 2pm.
Sonicsoap, a soundsystem packed inside of a Tuk Tuk, will team up with the Level Party at Maria Hernandez Park in Bushwick on May 16 during the daytime. I’ll be there. Come say hey :D
Finally, Mister Sunday is back at Nowadays on May 10. Feel the love!
And here’s the playlist. All deep jams. A mix of house, esoterica, new indie, and stormdrain classics.
